In Vienna, scammers are apparently trying to exploit the confusion of elderly people caused by the vaccination schedule, which is often difficult for them to understand. They provide information by telephone about vaccination appointments in their own homes. But there is no such vaccination campaign.

Several general practitioners in Vienna reported patients who had apparently been called by scammers. These would have announced appointments for vaccinations by telephone in the name of the city of Vienna. The special thing about it: the called would not need to go anywhere, the vaccination teams would come to the apartments.

But according to Medical Association President Thomas Szekeres, this is clearly false information: “Currently, vaccinations do not take place at home!” In the future, he said, the plan is for people to be vaccinated by their family doctor or for the family doctor to visit bedridden patients at home and vaccinate them.

Quite certainly, then, there are no vaccinations of the City of Vienna in private homes. Therefore, similar to calls from alleged police officers or alleged nephews, it is likely to be an attempt by fraudsters to gain access to the homes of elderly people. The medical association therefore recommended contacting the police or asking the family doctor in the event of such a call. According to Szekeres, the Medical Chamber has also informed its members about these calls.
